performance

Andrew Victor studied violin at the Manhattan School of Music in New York and cello in Maryland and has performed solo, chamber music, and orchestral concerts on both instruments since 1950. In 1964 he began teaching violin students in Ridgecrest, California, where he pursued his daytime career as a research physicist specializing in rocket science.

He was a concertmaster of his Frederick, Maryland high school orchestra and performed for two years with the All-Maryland High School Orchestra in Baltimore. He performed in the cello section during the first three seasons of the Hood-Frederick Symphony, 1949-1952. He performed with the Swarthmore College Orchestra from 1952-1956.

In 1962 he played with the Montgomery County, Maryland Symphony before moving to Ridgecrest, California later that year where he performed with the Desert Community Orchestra from 1963-1995. He was the orchestra's principal cellist for two seasons and played violin as Concertmaster from 1970-1990. He has played violin with the College of Marin Orchestra in Kentfield since 1995.

Andrew Victor teaches from the Suzuki books 1 through 10 for violin and cello and uses supplementary study material as required to improve a student's technique and musical interpretation. As students advance beyond the Suzuki repertoire, appropriate materials from the solo, concerto, chamber, and orchestral repertoire are used..
